They've made a film primarily set in and named after the city, and British crime TV series 'Midsomer Murders' and multilingual European venture 'The Team' have already chosen the Danish capital to film episodes in. And now Copenhagen has attracted two more major TV series to its streets.

Both the BBC’s adaptation of the Swedish series 'Wallander' starring Kenneth Branagh and the third season of successful Swedish-Danish co-production 'Broen' ('The Bridge') are heading here this autumn.

Final hurrah for Wallander
This will be the final series of 'Wallander', and it will consist of three episodes, of which the first two will be primarily set in Copenhagen and Ystad, Sweden.

Previous series of the show – and also the Swedish version, a long-running series that started back in 2005 and has a niche British audience on BBC 4 – have resulted in an increase in the number of British tourists visiting southern Sweden, where the stories are primarily based.

"We are very happy about Copenhagen becoming a central location in this highly popular TV production," stated Thomas Gammeltoft, the CEO of the Copenhagen Film Fund, in a press release.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Kenneth Branagh and the production team."

Crossing the bridge
Meanwhile, the third series of 'Broen' is expected to premiere in all five Nordic countries in the autumn of 2015.

“We are proud that the production of the television series is becoming even more Danish than seasons one and two, thus ensuring even more Danish jobs,” said Gammeltoft.

“It promises to be another great season and we are delighted to be on board.”
